Improving Services for Black 2SLGBTQI+ People in Canada

Updated: Feb 11

Evenings & Weekends Consulting is proud to be part of Back to Our Roots (B2R)!

In the newly released report, the Enchanté Network provides five data-backed recommendations to improve the lives of Black queer people in Canada. This includes the creation of a National Black 2SLGBTQI+ organization, supporting the existing programs and services that are offered, and providing more funding for research in addressing the knowledge gap on Black and queer communities living in Canada.

The Enchanté Network partnered with E&W to support their data analysis and community engagement work. Our team conducted a literature review of existing services and theoretical approaches, and identified gaps and barriers that impede Black 2SLGBTQI+ people living in Canada in accessing services and resources in the area of community and connection, employment and education, healthcare, housing and safety, through the analysis and interpretation of data captured through the national survey and consultations led by the Enchanté Network.

Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that the sacred land that we live, work, dream and rest on is the traditional territories of the Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Anishinabeg, Mississaugas of the Credit and Attiwonderonk. We believe that reconciliation and mending relations with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples is our collective responsibility, which requires ongoing reflection and action.
